TDOC Lincoln County Release Routes

The Tennessee Department of Correction is a statewide prison and felony-supervision system. No TDOC prison operation was identified in Lincoln County. A person sentenced on a Lincoln County felony may be placed at an institution chosen by TDOC, which can change over time. The correct location is therefore a live FOIL result, not a static list of nearby prisons.

A TDOC release may occur through parole, determinate release, mandatory reentry supervision, or sentence expiration. Parole ends prison confinement before the sentence expires and begins conditional supervision. Probation is imposed by a court and may follow split confinement. “Inactive” is TDOC’s published term most closely tied to a former offender, but it should be reconciled with release information. Delivery under a county or federal detainer ends TDOC custody while confinement continues elsewhere.

Search TDOC Lincoln Release Records

Felony Offender Information Lookup, known as FOIL, covers people currently or formerly in TDOC custody or supervision. It is the public first check after state custody. Use a TDOC ID when known because it is more precise than a name. The TDOC ID is also called a TOMIS number, referring to the Tennessee Offender Management Information System.

1. Choose TDOC ID, State ID, or name search.
2. For name search, enter last and first name, then add aliases or race only when useful.
3. Complete the case-sensitive image challenge or use its audio option.
4. Match the ID, photo, demographics, conviction county, and offenses before relying on a result.
5. Read status, location, sentence, hearing, and release information as one record.
6. If the record names supervision or another custodian, contact that office for the next step.

A same-name record is not enough. FOIL excludes many people released from a county jail, including some misdemeanor detainees, people who bonded out before disposition, and people whose charges were dismissed. For those cases, use the Sheriff’s booking/release record and court order instead.

FOIL’s official overview says a result may include a photo, status, location, offense, sentence information, parole-hearing status, and release information. Published status terms include incarcerated, probation, parole, and inactive. “Parole” or “probation” means TDOC supervision remains active. “Incarcerated” means the person is still in state custody. “Inactive” indicates that the person is no longer active in TDOC custody or supervision, but it is not a universal synonym for community freedom.

Check the release event and destination. TDOC policy includes release notices with offender name and ID, conviction county, offense, release type and date, sentence expiration, and intended residence city and state. That policy shows the agency’s record structure, but it does not promise that every field appears publicly. Sensitive details can be withheld. A state release to a county facility under a detainer is a handoff, so search the receiving county’s SAVIN record next.

Discharge

The end of the state custody or supervision status reflected in TDOC records.

Parole

Conditional release from prison before sentence expiration, followed by TDOC supervision.

Detainer

A request or basis for another authority to take or keep custody.

Inactive

FOIL’s status for a person no longer active in TDOC custody or supervision.

TDOC Lincoln Release Dates

The strongest official term for a future Tennessee parole milestone is Release Eligibility Date, or RED. The Tennessee Board of Parole says the trial court imposes the sentence and classification, state law sets required service, and TDOC acts as the official timekeeper. TDOC calculates RED using the sentence and applicable credits. RED is the point at which parole consideration may occur, not a guaranteed release date.

A grant hearing follows eligibility notice. The Board can deny release, and a grant may carry pre-release conditions. Sentence credits, offense date, classification, disciplinary changes, detainers, court orders, and parole decisions can alter the practical timing. Tennessee law does not impose one universal “85 percent” rule. Some provisions create credit floors for listed offenses, while newer truth-in-sentencing rules require full service for some offenses. The static FOIL overview does not name one exact projected-date field for all results. It says sentence and release information may appear. Do not substitute a guessed “tentative” label for the record. Use RED in general explanations, then quote the live FOIL field exactly when viewing the individual result.

Note: A future milestone is an estimate or eligibility point until TDOC and the releasing institution confirm the actual event.

TDOC Lincoln Release Records Contact

FOIL is informational. Older or deeper release records can be requested from TDOC Records Management. Provide the former offender’s full name, TOMIS number, date of birth, requester contact information, and a precise description of the release or discharge record. Ask for a photograph separately when needed. Charges may apply, so wait for instructions before paying.

That broader scope is what makes FOIL useful after a Lincoln County case enters the state system.

TDOC Lincoln Supervision Route

Lincoln County belongs to TDOC Community Supervision District 50. The official directory groups Lincoln with Coffee, Franklin, and Moore counties at the Tullahoma office. BOP makes parole decisions, while TDOC supervises parolees and probationers. The field office is not a jail and should not be treated as a release desk.

FOIL is the public first check for supervision status. Call the office for permissible confirmation or reporting instructions, but do not assume walk-in service. A probationer is directed by TDOC to report to the assigned officer within 48 hours of placement on probation or release from split confinement. That rule does not establish a public visitor schedule.

Tennessee VINE is a separate alert channel. TDOC participates in VINE for changes such as location, transfer, sentence expiration, release, and parole eligibility. Use VINE for notification and FOIL for the current or former offender summary. Neither replaces a certified release record.

Lincoln County Has No TDOC Prison

The fiscal-year 2024–25 state county report lists one inspected and certified local correctional facility in Lincoln County and no TDOC “Facilities Operation” there. The Tennessee Corrections Institute inspects local jails, but TDOC institutions form a separate statewide network. This distinction prevents a Lincoln case from being tied to a prison simply because it is in the region.

Search FOIL for the actual institution. A person may move between TDOC facilities before release, and the final location may differ from the first assignment. Upon parole or discharge, use FOIL, the Board’s decision record where relevant, VINE, and District 50 supervision information. When a detainer appears, use the receiving agency’s system as well.

Where does a TDOC-released person go? Some return to the community under parole, probation, or mandatory reentry supervision. Others complete the sentence without supervision. A person delivered to another agency remains confined. The release record must settle which route applies.

Note: The state system serves Lincoln convictions, but it is not physically located at the Lincoln County detention facility.

Lincoln TDOC Facility Map Evidence

The fiscal-year 2024–25 county report adds detail to the local map. It records one inspected and certified local correctional facility, zero decertified facilities, and 38 certified local correctional officers. It lists no TDOC facility operation in Lincoln County. The Tennessee Corrections Institute says local facilities receive annual inspections under Tenn. Code Ann. § 41-4-140. These figures describe the county jail system, not a TDOC prison or its staff. They support using FOIL to locate the actual state institution instead of assigning a Lincoln County address to a statewide agency.

A state offender can be connected to Lincoln County through the conviction, court record, release plan, or supervision district while confined elsewhere. The record should name those links separately. Doing so preserves the difference between local jail certification and state prison custody.
